Flair Pistachio Kunafa Dubai Chocolate Cake Bar Review

RATING: 3 ★ |

At a glance...

"Viral" Dubai Chocolate's distant cousin? The Flair Pistachio Kunafa Chocolate Cake Bar has a fairly average overall flavor, with noticeable notes of pistachio.

  • Taste: 3/5
  • Is it worth it: No for me. It just feels like an average chocolate cake bar snack with pistachio flavor.

REVIEW:

  • Fluffy bite feel with a bit of crispy texture
  • Phyllo dough bits give it a nice texture
  • Noticeable pistachio flavor, though not necessarily strong
  • Chocolate taste doesn’t taste premium but still alright
  • Overall, it's not spectacular but not bad either. Didn't leave a lasting impression.
  • Pricey

A little funny story...

This product caught my attention because I thought this was Baklava. I've always wanted to try a baklava, but I couldn’t bring myself to spend so much on just a tiny piece of dessert. Baklava is a pastry dessert typically with chopped nuts, most often pistachios, and layered between sheets of phyllo and sweetened with syrup or honey.

The packaging says "cake bar", so I was sure this wasn't the same thing. I don't know much about chocolates and desserts from the UAE region. I guess anything with pistachio tends to remind me of baklava.

But what is Kunafa?

Kunafa (also known as Knafeh) is a classic Middle Eastern dessert made with shredded phyllo dough, and is combined with butter and sweetened using syrup or honey. It is typically made with sweet fillings like cheese or nuts. (Always Tasting, 2023)

Based on my quick research, I think there are many variations of both kunafa and baklava. Both are classic Middle Eastern desserts made with pastry dough, but prepared in different ways and can come in a variety of flavors.

As the Flair Pistachio Kunafa Dubai Chocolate Cake Bar was on sale at my local supermarket, I decided to look up reviews online to see if anyone has said anything about it and whether it was worth trying. There were only a few reviews. What really caught my attention was how Google kept showing "Dubai Chocolate" and "Viral Dubai Chocolate" in my search suggestions.

I wondered why - I didn't know there was some sort of viral Dubai Chocolate craze going on. I honestly wouldn't have found out about it if I hadn't looked up this product.

As a pistachio lover, the "Dubai Chocolate" surely looks tempting! The photos of it reminded me of how much I love the pistachio sauce that I would get when I buy a Froyo.

It's totally awesome to see these pistachio-based desserts and treats! Happy to see these treats getting more exposure! I hope to try them all one day!

Unisoy Rice Soy Milk Powder Review: Rich and Aromatic

RATING:  4 ★ |  At a glance...  Aromatic and creamy soy milk with a subtle rice note — just the right sweetness and easy to enjoy.  Taste:   5/5  [Rich and creamy texture. Strong scent.]  [Less than 10 ingredients that are mostly recognizable. With additive and flavorings.]  Is it worth it:  Depends on whether you want to have a flavored soy milk. It's a bit pricey, and with the additives, I'd rather just pay more for a fresh cup of soy milk. Suitability:  If you like soy milk with a thick and rich texture, if you want convenience and have something different from a regular soy milk. Great as a breakfast drink or for tea breaks.
