REVIEW:
Overall, nice flavor and texture! I could really tell that it was made from pure matcha as I'm quite sensitive to artificial matcha flavors. The matcha flavor is considerably strong. It's not very strong, but it's definitely noticeable. As a matcha lover, I'm happy with it. I also like that it's not too sweet and it's just the right amount of sweetness.
The texture of the drink is also good! It really stood out to me as I found it comparable to a fresh cup of matcha latte bought at a physical shop. That's pretty impressive, considering that it's an instant beverage and you can get it at a fraction of the price.
Moreover, since it's a SOY matcha latte, it's suitable for vegans, and it's also a healthier option as it has a lower saturated fat content compared to cow's milk, and non-dairy creamers commonly found in instant drinks, like the NTUC FairPrice Matcha Latte I tried.
The ingredients list on the packaging also states '100% Soybean', without the usual fillers you often see in other similar instant beverages. That’s a big plus for me.
What I didn’t love...
The packaging recommends adding the powder after filling your cup with warm or cold water.
It also states:
"To avoid clump formation, it is suggested to pour the soy powder into the water instead of adding water directly to the powder."
I prefer having my drink hot most of time, but with soy powders, they tend to clump when mixed with hot water. I've tried various soy milk powder brands and they pretty much have the same recommended guideline. In short, it's generally not advisable to mix instant soy milk powders with hot water.
So I followed the instructions and used warm water, but there were still a few tiny clumps, unfortunately!
I realize this tends to happen with many soymilk powder products and brands, and it's definitely not specific to this one. Oh well! It doesn't bother me that much, as long as it doesn't clump too much that would lead to a bland liquid! (Speaking from experience)
But yes, in general, remember to pour the sachet into your cup of water and not the other way round! I sometimes forget to do that and end up with a bland drink with multiple medium sized clumps. 😅
