 RATING: 3.8 ★ |

At a glance...

Affordable instant matcha latte for a quick fix — foamy, smooth, and not overly sweet.

  • Taste: 3.8/5
    [Nice texture, noticeable matcha flavor]
  • Is it worth it: Taste and cost wise, yes.
  • Suitability: When you want a quick and easy, affordable matcha latte. For tea breaks. When the craving hits.

REVIEW:

  • Richness of matcha: Just okay. It's not strong, but it's definitely there; noticeable matcha scent and taste.
  • Sweetness: Not too sweet. Instant drinks tend to be too sweet to my liking, but I found this acceptable.
  • Texture of drink: Foamy, smooth and thick
  • Overall taste: Pretty good!

When I saw this at FairPrice supermarket (NTUC), I was so intrigued! It was probably my first time seeing a house brand matcha latte! As a side note, I'm not against house brands at all. Their offerings can be of pretty good quality sometimes. I appreciate the affordability of these products.

FairPrice has certainly expanded its house brand offerings over the years. It was quite an unexpected surprise to see that they now have matcha latte too! As a curious one (or curious reviewer, I should say), I was keen to find out how it would fare!

I haven't tried many instant matcha lattes. I previously tried and reviewed another instant matcha latte by Unisoy, but of course, these two products aren’t directly comparable as the Unisoy Nutritious Soy Matcha is made with soy powder. Check out my review here if you'd like to find out more!

ingredients list of instant matcha latte

The FairPrice Matcha Latte is made with non-dairy creamer. The ingredients list also reveals a number of added additives, which makes it significantly less healthy as compared to the aforementioned product. That said, I believe it's okay to have something "less healthy" once in a while. Moderation is key in everything!

Please keep in mind that I'm not penalizing this product for this particular aspect - just stating the facts and what I feel about it. :)

Taste wise, it's actually pretty good! I like that the matcha latte has a foamy and thick texture. It's surprisingly reminiscent of matcha lattes I get from stores or make myself. The intensity of the matcha is okay - not strong, but it's noticeable. It's really not bad!

It's a pleasant drink overall! It's a great no-frills matcha latte. Although I wouldn't advise one to drink it daily due to the additives used, it still makes for a good treat when you want a quick and relatively cheap matcha latte.

I didn’t stir it very well, oops. That said, the drink dissolved pretty well overall.

Please note that I’m only here to share my honest thoughts on products I try. I might sometimes wonder for myself whether something is considered “healthy” and include my comments. I don’t specifically go after health products; I just try whatever catches my interest. Please use your own judgment, and as always, moderation is key. Enjoy!

Unisoy Rice Soy Milk Powder Review: Rich and Aromatic

RATING:  4 ★ |  At a glance...  Aromatic and creamy soy milk with a subtle rice note — just the right sweetness and easy to enjoy.  Taste:   5/5  [Rich and creamy texture. Strong scent.]  [Less than 10 ingredients that are mostly recognizable. With additive and flavorings.]  Is it worth it:  Depends on whether you want to have a flavored soy milk. It's a bit pricey, and with the additives, I'd rather just pay more for a fresh cup of soy milk. Suitability:  If you like soy milk with a thick and rich texture, if you want convenience and have something different from a regular soy milk. Great as a breakfast drink or for tea breaks.
