Unisoy Rice Soy Milk Powder Review: Rich and Aromatic

RATING: 4 ★ |

At a glance...

Aromatic and creamy soy milk with a subtle rice note — just the right sweetness and easy to enjoy.

  • Taste: 5/5
[Rich and creamy texture. Strong scent.]
[Less than 10 ingredients that are mostly recognizable. With additive and flavorings.]
  • Is it worth it: Depends on whether you want to have a flavored soy milk. It's a bit pricey, and with the additives, I'd rather just pay more for a fresh cup of soy milk.
  • Suitability: If you like soy milk with a thick and rich texture, if you want convenience and have something different from a regular soy milk. Great as a breakfast drink or for tea breaks.

REVIEW:

The fragrance of the Unisoy Rice Soy Milk really stood out to me! This may sound a bit far-fetched, but a sniff of the cup reminded me of freshly baked muffins at home. It just smelled so good!

Of course, the drink didn't taste anything like muffins! From the first sip, the delicate rice aroma really came through, and I think it went really well with the soy milk.

The soy milk is rich and creamy, not too watered down, which I really like! I think this is consistent with many of Unisoy's instant soy milk that I've tried - it's of a thicker texture.

I really enjoyed the drink. It was probably my first time having a rice flavored soy milk. Apart from the richness of the soy milk and aromatic "muffin" scent, there’s a subtle aftertaste of rice, which I found pretty unique. I think it's good that the rice flavor didn't overpower the soy milk.

The sweetness level of the drink is acceptable to me. It's slightly sweeter than another product in the line - Unisoy Nutritious Soy Matcha that I've tried (just for reference).

What I didn’t love...

Just like Unisoy Nutritious Soy Matcha,  the soy milk powder didn’t fully dissolve. I still noticed a few small clumps, even though I followed the instructions on the packaging; no hot water + poured the powder into water.

This is a common downside with instant soy milk drinks! Soy milk powder tends to clump more when mixed with hot water. It's a bit of a bummer to me because I prefer having a hot drink. I tend to take my time with drinks, so if it starts out warm, it’ll cool to room temperature before I finish it. That's just my take on it, and not the fault of the product.

When it comes to soy milk powders, it's important to follow the instructions on the packaging. Unisoy recommends adding the powder after filling your cup with warm or cold water

It also specifically states:

"To avoid clump formation, it is suggested to pour the soy powder into the water instead of adding water directly to the powder."

Unfortunately, there were still clumps when I used warm water — I suppose it’s just something you get used to. I might try it with cold water next time, or maybe use a shaker to help with the mixing.

Overall, I think the pleasant taste makes up for the downside. If you want something different from regular soy milk, be sure to try this! Feel free to check out the official page to learn more about Unisoy Nutritious Rice Soy Milk Powder.
